Our campaign to highlight the UK’s climate movement marking COP26 Conference

16 November 2021

Lucion Services, together with Delta-Simons, through the skills and expertise of our employees, aim to create real long-lasting positive change for the natural world and society, far beyond our immediate reach.

Collectively, we work primarily in the environmental management sector and are committed to supporting our clients and communities in protecting our environment through our business operations.

This year, the 26th annual summit for the global climate, called Conference of the Parties (COP), brought together almost every country on earth in Glasgow. Over the course of the conference, to mark COP26 as a group, Lucion Services and Delta-Simons shared on social media our contribution to the UK’s climate movement through our engagement with clients and communities while we look at our impact as a company.

Below we have summarised our posts across the three themes:

Engaging with our Clients

Road to Net Zero

Delta-Simons Sustainability Consultants educate and advise clients on what are the best considerations to choose and discuss preferred project types to help businesses become Net Zero (and beyond).

A short video at the link demonstrates the process which Delta-Simons use to help Clients decide what carbon offsets projects  are right for their business: What to consider when choosing a carbon offset project

Read about our inclusion in the Sunday Times Business Owners Checklist where we share about our carbon reduction services and the importance of becoming a Net Zero business.

ESG is Business Critical

The journey towards net-zero will demand cooperation and commitment from the public and corporations to adopt ethical and sustainable business models on the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.

The growing alertness and demand for action amongst consumers are also making ESG an increasingly greater significance for businesses, highlighting the responsibility, commitment and action needed to accomplish positive climate action and build a more sustainable, resilient future.

The demand for transparency on sustainable and socially responsible practices is on the rise. ESG analysis and reporting can provide valuable insights and help create long-term value for stakeholders.

Delta-Simons' Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability (EHS&S) division’s Unit Director, Rob Molyneux explains what exactly ESG is and why it is business-critical.

Our responsibility to tackle Climate Change

In October this year, Delta-Simons was featured in a market-leading business journal, The European.

The article includes an interview with Delta-Simons’ Managing Director, Alex Ferguson who highlights that it is not enough to look to policymakers to solve climate change, businesses of all sizes must take responsibility.

The article goes on to discuss key sustainability focus areas for the Lucion Group and what differentiates Delta-Simons as a leading environmental & risk management organisation.

We educate and advise clients on what are the best considerations to choose and discuss preferred project types to help your business play a key part in the sustainable future.

Managing our impact as a Company

The Lucion Group is proud to be continuing to invest in our commitment to ESG, and our most recent appointment of an Internal Group ESG Lead, Hazel Gillings, shows this commitment.

Hazel is working closely with our CEO Phil Rozier and our wider Group Executive Team, along with our investment backers Palatine on how we shape our ambitions and goals into science-based targets and initiatives.

Read the interview with Hazel Gillings to find out more about our ESG initiative.

CEO, Phil Rozier, said of our internal ESG investment:

“Both Lucion Services and Delta-Simons are purpose-led organisations and our work makes a positive impact on our communities and our natural environment. It is my vision that we continue to utilise our skills, expertise and resources to expand our ability to make a positive impact on the people around us and the planet we live on.

"Businesses have a huge opportunity and obligation to take national and international targets set by our world leaders in settings such as COP26 and turn them into practical reality. Across the Lucion Group of companies, it is my aim to make a significant positive impact for our communities and our natural environment, investing in in-house expertise in ESG is the obvious first step.”

Helping our Communities

Offering Sustainability Services

Delta-Simons offer sustainability services that add value to society alongside the delivery of environmental expertise to our clients. For example, Delta-Simons secured a three-year sustainability partnership with the organiser and promoter of the Cambridge Half MarathonOSB Events, which sees them develop an ESG Strategy for the Cambridge Half Marathon. Our partnership ensures that the event continues to evolve and include the highest possible ESG standards set out in the ESG policy and makes a positive contribution to Cambridge and the wider environment.

Also, in the recently concluded Metanoia Climate Festival, Delta-Simons were delighted to support the three-day event showcasing our work in environmental sustainability which welcomed over 5,000 visitors. The event centred around the exhibition of a well-known piece of artwork called Gaia – a suspended globe based on NASA imagery aimed to encourage people to look after the beautiful and precious place that we call home.

Activating the Future Generation

Our children carry the baton of looking after the richness and diversity of our ecosystem while adapting their lifestyle and taking responsibility to suit the needs of the planet.

In the run-up to COP26, we created a resource pack for children for all our employees to download. Split into two age groups, the resource packs contained a calendar of activities that they could do during their school holidays.

The children's climate action activity resource packs are aimed to educate children about the key issues affecting our climate and inspire them to get active in the global movement of action against climate change.

For children under 10: A 7-day calendar to get involved with some fun activities whilst learning more about the planet and the effects of climate change, addressing some key topics like biodiversity, sea level rising, and the greenhouse effect.

For young people aged 11-16: A creative opportunity to come up with an environmental project based on one of five key themes, we’ve picked out from the COP 26 agenda.

As a Group of environmental and scientific testing, inspection and consultancy companies, sustainability underpins everything that we do. Sustainability is integral to the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) ambitions of our business.

Over the course of the COP26 conference, our social media campaign highlighted the issue of climate change and Lucion Groups’ contribution to our clients and communities as a company offering environmental and sustainability consultancy.

Led by the ESG principles, the combined Lucion group is passionate about making a difference among clients, employees, investors and other stakeholders, as we continue to adapt to the ever-changing business environment impacted by the effects of climate change.
