Delta-Simons completes strategic acquisition of an established, Peterborough based, site-investigation and geo-technical testing firm.

12 May 2022

Lucion Group is today delighted to announce the successful acquisition of Ground Engineering Ltd by our Delta-Simons Ltd team.  Ground Engineering Ltd specialises in the provision of site investigation services and geotechnical testing, providing a strong addition to the Geo-Environmental team within Delta-Simons Ltd. The acquisition, supported by BDO and HSBC, is the first made by Delta-Simons since their integration into the Lucion Group in April 2021, signifying the growth and investment that can be made as part of a wider team with supportive investment and backing.

Who is Ground Engineering Ltd?

Ground Engineering is the successor to Soils Engineering, which was originally Pre-Piling Surveys Ltd, founded in 1936, highlighting the level of experience and reputation that Ground Engineering has in the marketplace. They offer geotechnical and geoenvironmental ground investigation and associated professional services to a wide range of civil engineering, construction, housing, environmental management and financial sectors.

Their team of 24 highly skilled and experienced geotechnical engineers, geologists and drilling operators are based predominately in Peterborough and working largely in London and the South East and will expand the capacity, range and expertise of the site investigation services to those that are already provided by the Geo-Environmental team within Delta-Simons. Their on-site services are supported by their UKAS ISO 17025 accredited geotechnical and construction materials testing laboratory.

Led by Chris Ebeling and Steve Fleming, the company will be integrated into Delta-Simons’ geo-environmental division. Chris, who will remain with the business alongside Steve as Ground Engineering Services Directors, said:

“We decided it was the right time to join forces with a larger group of companies to ensure the future sustainability, growth and success of the business. Our team have built a strong reputation for providing high-quality, trusted geo-technical services to our clients.

When presented with the opportunity to join a progressive group of companies and specialising in similar services, we immediately recognised the synergies and saw it as a fantastic opportunity for our team.”

Chris, Steve and their management team will continue to run Ground Engineering Ltd, with support from the Delta-Simons Senior Leadership Team.
