Health & Safety Policy

Lucion Group and all associated Group Companies understand the need for operating our business, and providing the products and services we supply, within the built, natural and marine environments, in a safe manner. Lucion Group operates within the Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) sector providing a wide range of services including hazardous materials testing and inspection, topographical and measured building surveys, ground investigations, ecology and sustainability consultancy. We recognise that our activities relate to many varied and often challenging settings where these and other general hazards exist.

The core vision of the Lucion Group centres around the delivery of trusted services to Protect People and Planet. To do this effectively, it is essential we have an unwavering commitment to the health, safety and general well-being of our employees, customers and contractors, as well as protecting the communities in which we live and work.

Lucion Group is committed to leading and implementing health and safety arrangements and culture by ensuring an awareness of individual responsibilities throughout the organisation, forming an integrated compliance framework of QHSE, professional liabilities and employment practices. Health and safety management forms part of our Lucion Group Management System (LGMS) and is purposely designed to evolve as continual improvements are identified and developed.

The Chief Executive Officer leads this commitment by integrating health and safety into top level policy and strategy decisions in all Lucion companies. The Chief Technical Officer is appointed as the member of the Board to be responsible for Health and Safety. He governs and assures health and safety through our board, senior management, operations, and departmental meetings to enable effective communication on the performance of our business activities, with timely decisions and actions to enable change and improvement.

The Chief Technical Officer is supported by the Assurance team with oversight of day to day health and safety management in each respective Lucion Group Company.

The Executive Board set direction via a 5 year plan, which is supported by ‘SMART’ objectives, targets and KPIs in order to develop and continually improve our performance

The following are our principal objectives:

  • To carry out activities to the highest OH&S standards. This is achieved through commitment to the ISO45001 standard, as part of the LGMS.  The LGMS has been devised to simplify the implementation of multiple system standards by their integration into a single management system manual and through identification of core requirements, thus preventing duplication.
  • Prevent, reduce, and minimise accidents, incidents and cases of work-related ill health by managing the health and safety risks in the workplace as far as reasonably practicable.
  • Provide clear instructions, information, training and supervision to ensure the safety of all employees, visitors, third parties, and contractors.
  • Engage and consult with employees on day-to-day health and safety observations to encourage participation to improve systems and drive continual improvement.
  • Identify and eliminate hazards and reduce OH&S risks by carrying out proficient risk assessments wherever applicable and applying the hierarchy of controls, to minimise risks to health.
  • Implement emergency procedures and actions such as evacuation in case of fire or other significant incidents.
  • Maintain safe and healthy working conditions, provide and maintain plant, equipment, and machinery, means of access and egress, ensure safe storage, transport, and use of potentially hazardous substances.
  • Provide adequate resources, safety equipment, PPE, operating procedures, methods statements, and systems of work to employees to enable them to undertake their work in a safe manner wherever applicable.
  • To continually strive for a reduction in the frequency of accidents occurring each year and ensure thorough investigation and corrective actions are implemented
  • Comply with all relevant OH&S law and legislation [as identified in our LGMS legislation aspect tracker]
  • To monitor health and safety incidents and statistics, to allow accurate assessment of Health and Safety performance and enable the setting of ‘SMART’ targets to allow continual performance.

Our Standard Operating Procedure for Occupational Health and Safety (SOP16 series) forms part of our Lucion Group Management System (LGMS). All employees have a responsibility to comply with and have suitable awareness of all relevant Health and Safety Regulations, and applicable Lucion procedures including emergency contingencies.

This Statement applies to all Lucion Group Companies.
